Bloomberg Businessweek has recognized Butler University’s College of Business in its 2016 rankings as the No. 1 business school nationwide for internships.

When Bloomberg released its rankings on April 19, it stated that students who have participated in internships fare better in the job market than students who do not. A lot of undergraduate business programs make great efforts to help their students find high-value internships.

Many of these internships turn into full-time job offers after the students graduate. Business programs also give students exposure to certain industry and job functions and provide them with connections in the business world.

Bloomberg has specified an internship as the accumulation of at least 120 hours of work experience in the span of six months. During this six-month period, the students must receive supervision and/or mentorship and apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in college. An internship can be paid or unpaid and can earn students credit hours for school.

If a student has a start-up business and does work on that business while in school, it qualifies as an internship as long as it meets all of the other criteria.
