Andy Drotos, executive dean of the University of Phoenix College of Education, has been appointed to the Arizona Educational Foundation board of directors.

The board consists of business, education and community leaders who support and fulfill the collaborative mission of nurturing excellence in Arizona’s schools.

Drotos began his career with the University of Phoenix in 1994. He is currently responsible for operations, academic oversight, student and faculty experience and partnerships with education influences for the College of Education. With more than 20 years of experience in education, Drotos understands the significance of giving the critical work of teachers in the classroom recognition.

A number of programs to recognize the efforts of teachers have been established by the Arizona Educational Foundation. This is due, in part, to 17 percent of new educators leaving the profession with the first five years of their employment. Many of the teachers allude to the lack of recognition and support as their reasons for quitting.

Drotos is committed to supporting teachers as part of the Arizona Educational Foundation so that number goes down.
