Cameron University junior Summer Palmer, an accounting major, will attend the 22nd Annual American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Foundation Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop, an invitation-only program hosting approximately 100 college students each year.
The workshop will give Palmer a greater appreciation for the opportunities presented by a CPA designation and allow her to further develop her professional skills. She will take part in learning sessions and panel discussions while networking with CPAs who can guide her career.
“Summer Palmer is an ideal student every
professor would like to have in their classes,” Cameron School of Business instructor Bernadette Lonzanida said. “I had her in two accounting courses and one
workshop, and she is an outstanding student. She sets a good example for others
to follow. In her actions and deeds, she is admired and respected by her
schoolmates as well as staff and faculty members. I have witnessed her
enthusiasm for learning new things. She is a self-motivated individual who does
not wait for opportunities, she creates them.”
Palmer is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma interdisciplinary honor society and has been on the Dean’s or President’s Honors List the entire time she has studied at Cameron.
