Delaney Jones, an Ashland University junior from Twinsburg, Ohio, has received the Phi Sigma Iota Foreign Language Honor Society scholarship.

Phi Sigma Iota has more than 250 chapters around the world. Ashland installed the Gamma Tau Chapter of Phi Sigma Iota in 1997. The university has initiated 165 student members, eight members of the faculty and an honorary member.

Jones, the vice president of Ashland's chapter, is the first student from Ashland to apply for the scholarship. Only active Phi Sigma Iota members are allowed to apply, with each institution’s chapter able to submit one application each year.
