Rice president named American Academy of Arts and Sciences fellow

Rice University President David Leebron has been named a fellow with the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

The society’s former members include Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and Albert Einstein. Also named to this year's class of inductees are autism rights activist Temple Grandin, jazz artist Wayne Shorter, former Time magazine editor Walter Isaacson,

Before taking the helm at Rice in 2004, Leebron was dean of Columbia Law School. He has received countless academic honors that include France's Legion of Merit.
