Berry students take top honors in Southern Literary Festival writing contests

Two students from Berry College were awarded first place in the Southern Literary Festival writing contests.

Courtney Wimberly won in the poetry category for her poem, Anuyoga, and Rachel Yeates took first place in the once-act play division for Thoughts in a Museum

Student writers from 26 southern schools entered the contest. Founded in 1937, the Southern Literary Festival is an organization of southern colleges and schools brought together to promote southern literature. 

The festival is a writing conference for undergraduate students, offering workshops, readings and master classes in many different genres, which include fiction, poetry, playwriting and non-fiction.
