The Department of Health and Human Sciences recently honored eight Bridgewater College students with awards.

Major of the Year awards, which are given students who demonstrate strong academic skills and considerable career-related experiences, were awarded to Hunter Mathias for athletic training, Samantha Blake Saylor for nutrition and wellness, Katie Thompson for health and exercise science, Colin Tucker for health and physical education and Micaela Verry for family and consumer sciences. Each recipient also received a monetary reward.

The Excellence in Academics award, a health and exercise major honor, was presented to Tiffany Sell. The award is given to the student who shows academic distinction and goes above and beyond inside the classroom and out. Raqueliz Mejia, a health and exercise major, was the recipient of the Excellence in Leadership and Service award for showing excellent leadership, character and service. Both students received a monetary award.

Nicholas Zimmerman, a family and consumer sciences major, was honored with the Rugbby H. St. John Endowed Scholarship in Family and Consumer Sciences. The scholarship, which awards $2,080, is given to a student working toward a family and consumer sciences degree.
