The Northwest Pennsylvania Artists Association (NPAA) is showcasing artwork at Mercyhurst University’s Cummings Gallery over the summer, including paintings, photography, ceramic sculptures and mixed-media pieces.

This exhibition will  be on display until Aug. 7.

The NPAA consists of approximately 144 members and the organization holds several exhibits on an annual basis. It also awards scholarships to those graduating high school and is involved in advocacy and promotion of visual arts in the tri-county area.

The gallery in the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center is open between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A free artists' reception is June 16 from 5-7 p.m.

The gallery was established in 1984 and was named after Sister Angelica Cummings, who founded university’s art department. It features art from local artists in the tri-state area in addition to the school’s art students and faculty members. Prior to this show, the gallery featured interior design projects and, before that, held the Senior Art Thesis Exhibition.
