Rice selects four new trustees

Rice University has elected three alumni and a former trustee to its board of trustees. 

The alumni areAnn Doerr, class of ’75; Robert Ladd, class of ’78; and Scott Wise, class of ’71; and the former trustee is James Hackett. All newly elected trustees will serve four-year terms.

Bobby Tudor, board chairman, expressed his excitement at having the four Rice alums join him on the board, saying that all four individuals have experience and expertise from which the board can benefit. He went on to say that each of the four new members has also shown dedication to the university.

Doerr, chairman of Khan Academy, helps run a nonprofit organization that has helped more than 500 million people worldwide with free online academic lessons. 

Ladd, co-founder, managing partner and chief investment officer of Stellus Capital Management, serves as CEO of Stellus Capital Investment Corp. 

Wise has provided customized endowment management services to nonprofit institutions since 2010, when he was chosen by the TIAA and worked at Rice for 31 years. 

Hackett has been at the Houston office of Riverstone private investment firm since 2013 and has served as CEO of Anadarko Petroleum.
