Richard Benson, the newly appointed president of the University of Texas at Dallas, recently wrote a letter to the faculty, staff and students discussing the future he hopes to build at the university.

In his letter, he wrote:

“Today, on my first day as president of UT Dallas, I want to share with you my admiration for the successes you’ve helped make possible at the University. There is no doubt that UT Dallas has an incredible future in store through your continued efforts and with the support of The University of Texas System. I am excited about building that future with you.

“UT Dallas has a history of exceptional leadership that has guided it from its earliest days to the present, including that of Dr. Hobson Wildenthal, who so ably served as president ad interim during this past year. His vast knowledge of the University and community will help speed my learning curve. Also, I would like to thank Dr. David Daniel, UT System deputy chancellor and former president, for his advice and counsel as I have prepared to take on this new role.”

Benson plans on meeting with many people and touring the campus, beginning immediately.
