Mercyhurst University graduate Rosemary Macey recently supervised catering for the media during the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, where she is the sales manager.

“I have to manage a lot of different people, a lot of different personalities, and do my best to make everyone happy while also trying to show off the great city of Cleveland,” said Macey who graduated in 2013.

Macey’s sales manager position at the Huntington Convention Center is her dream job and media catering during the convention is the largest event she has handled. At just 25, her ability to distinguish herself has been impressive; she was one of five finalists for Rising Star Corporate Event Planner of the Year.

“I was gaining experience in the field during the four years I was at Mercyhurst, so I was light years ahead of others entering the field,” Macey said of her career path. “I knew Mercyhurst hospitality graduate [Tony Prusak] was working at the convention center and he helped me make the connection for a job there as catering coordinator. Within eight months, I was promoted to catering sales manager.”
