Viking Fusion, a multimedia website operated by students at Berry College, has been named the recipient of two national student production awards by College Broadcasters Inc.

The award for Best Comedy was given to the first bilingual short produced by Viking Fusion, “Ay, Mi Amor.” The short was produced by Rachel Reiff and is about love being “lost in translation.”

“I feel like the film is the culmination of both of majors, communication and Spanish, and four years of hard work at Berry and abroad,” Reiff said. “I wrote it for my host mother from Argentina and the other friends I met there. Seeing it recognized nationally is a testament to them and the beautiful country that inspired me.”

Winning Best Vodcast was the parody of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” titled “The Studio Awakens,” produced by senior communication major Chris Scott.

“It’s always great to have your work recognized at this level, but the true joy for me is that this production showcased the true collaborative nature and passion of the Viking Fusion staff,” Scott said.

Scott also directed “Wireless Fidelity,” a horror parody made for the Viking Fusion 48-hour Film Challenge, which won second place in its category.
