Eleven music
students at the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF),
were recently chosen to participate in an upcoming statewide
competition.
The competition awards a $2,000
scholarship from the Florida College System Association.
To
prepare for the competition, the musicians will perform at SCF's Neel
Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 19. A reception will
follow in the art center lobby, during which audience members are
encouraged to speak with the students and enjoy free refreshments.
Admission to the
event, which is being organized by the SCF Music Educators Club, is
$10, although additional donations also will be accepted. All
proceeds go toward music programs at SCF.
