BERRY COLLEGE: Campus Carrier Newspaper Earns Awards

Berry College issued the following announcement on Feb. 22.

The Berry College student newspaper, Campus Carrier, claimed nine awards for journalism excellence in this year’s Georgia College Press Association Better Newspaper Contest.

The newspaper also received the second place award for general excellence in its division at the annual awards ceremony.

"I'm really proud of the work we've done this year,” said Avery Boulware, a junior from Hixon, Tenn., who serves as editor-in-chief of the newspaper. "Everyone on the Carrier staff has been doing great work week after week."

Staff achievement within a variety of other categories was awarded in the Senior B Division, which includes all four-year Georgia colleges and universities with enrollments under 8,000. Campus Carrier staff awards included:

• First place – Best Campus Community Service – Sports

• Second place – General Advertising Excellence

• Second place – General Photography Excellence

• Second place – General Layout and Design Excellence

• Second place – Improvement

• Third place – Best Campus Community Service – Editorial Excellence

Individual Awards:

• Third Place (Group I) – Best Entertainment Story – Jameson Filston

• Third Place (Group II) – Best Editorial or Editorial Series – Darian Kuxhouse

The Campus Carrier is published weekly for the students, faculty and staff of Berry College.
