BRIDGEWATER COLLEGE: Caroline Caplen to Give Senior Voice Recital on April 7

Bridgewater College issued the following announcement on March 23.

Caroline S. Caplen will present a senior recital at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 7, in the Carter Center for Worship and Music at Bridgewater College.

For her soprano voice recital, Caplen will perform “Rencontre,” “Toujours” and “Adieu” from Poèm d’un Jour by Gabriel Fauré and “Ach, ich fühls” from Die Zauberflöte by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. She also will perform “Silver Aria” from The Ballad of Baby Doe by Douglas Moore, “Song to the Moon” from Rusalka by Antonín Dvořák and “In der Fremde,” “Die Stille,” “Mondnacht” and “Frühlingsnacht” from Liederkreis Song Cycle by Robert Schumann.

The recital also includes “Nature, the Gentlest Mother,” "Why Do They Shut Me Out of Heaven?,” “The World Feels Dusty,” “Heart, We Will Forget Him,” “Going to Heaven” and The Chariot” from Twleve Poems of Emily Dickinson by Aaron Copland.

A special feature of the recital is a duet, “Paseo” from Recuerdos by William Bolcom, performed on two pianos. Caplen will perform the piece with Adam Kelly, a senior music major from Salem, Va.

Caplen, a music major, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Caplen of Dulles, Va. Caplen is a member of the Concert Choir and the Chorale. She is a member of the Symphonic Band and is a student assistant for the department of music. She serves as president of the campus chapter of National Association for Music Education (NAfME).

Caplen studies voice under Shannon Kiser, adjunct instructor of music at Bridgewater College. Lacey Johnson, instructor of music, will accompany her on the piano
