Graduates earn 938 degrees, certificates from Inter American University of Puerto Rico-Ponce

About 27.9 percent of the 938 degrees and certificates handed out by the Inter American University of Puerto Rico-Ponce in 2016-17 were to students in Health Professions and Related Programs programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Mercedita conferred 132 bachelor's degrees and 96 associate's degrees in Health Professions and Related Programs programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice/Safety Studies. Data shows the school gave out 58 bachelor's degrees in Criminal Justice/Safety Studies, followed by 52 bachelor's degrees in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse and 42 certificates in Baking and Pastry Arts/Baker/Pastry Chef.

The university enrolled 5,292 students for 2016-17, including 4,871 in undergraduate programs and 421 in graduate programs.
