About 18.3 percent of the 4,220 degrees and certificates handed out by the University of Rhode Island in 2016-17 were to students in Health Professions and Related Programs programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.
The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Kingston conferred 517 bachelor's degrees and 164 doctor's degrees in Health Professions and Related Programs programs.
But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse. Data shows the school gave out 233 bachelor's degrees in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse, followed by 211 bachelor's degrees in Psychology, General and 194 bachelor's degrees in Speech Communication and Rhetoric.
The university enrolled 17,822 students for 2016-17, including 14,812 in undergraduate programs and 3,010 in graduate programs.
