About 26.6 percent of the 1,700 degrees and certificates handed out by the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2016-17 were to students in Engineering programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.
The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Huntsville conferred 309 bachelor's degrees and 119 master's degrees in Engineering programs.
But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse. Data shows the school gave out 108 bachelor's degrees in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse, followed by 105 bachelor's degrees in Mechanical Engineering and 96 master's degrees in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse.
The university enrolled 8,468 students for 2016-17, including 6,507 in undergraduate programs and 1,961 in graduate programs.
