Graduates earn 8,509 degrees, certificates from Iowa State University

About 20.4 percent of the 8,509 degrees and certificates handed out by the Iowa State University in 2016-17 were to students in Engineering programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Ames conferred 1404 bachelor's degrees and 228 master's degrees in Engineering programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Data shows the school gave out 417 bachelor's degrees in Mechanical Engineering, followed by 302 bachelor's degrees in Kinesiology and Exercise Science and 258 bachelor's degrees in Marketing/Marketing Management, General.

The university enrolled 36,350 students for 2016-17, including 30,671 in undergraduate programs and 5,679 in graduate programs.
