About 29.4 percent of the 3,928 degrees and certificates handed out by the American University in 2016-17 were to students in Social Sciences programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.
The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Washington conferred 651 bachelor's degrees and 428 master's degrees in Social Sciences programs.
But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in International Relations and Affairs. Data shows the school gave out 428 bachelor's degrees in International Relations and Affairs, followed by 370 doctor's degrees in Law and 354 master's degrees in International Relations and Affairs.
The university enrolled 13,346 students for 2016-17, including 7,900 in undergraduate programs and 5,446 in graduate programs.
