About 14 percent of the 2,525 degrees and certificates handed out by the Brown University in 2016-17 were to students in Social Sciences programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.
The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Providence conferred 279 bachelor's degrees and 44 master's degrees in Social Sciences programs.
But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Data shows the school gave out 131 bachelor's degrees in Computer Science, followed by 123 bachelor's degrees in Applied Mathematics, General and 121 doctor's degrees in Medicine.
The university enrolled 9,781 students for 2016-17, including 6,926 in undergraduate programs and 2,855 in graduate programs.
