About 40.9 percent of the 1,532 degrees and certificates handed out by the Emporia State University in 2016-17 were to students in Education programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.
The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Emporia conferred 397 master's degrees and 186 bachelor's degrees in Education programs.
But the single most popular program was for a master's degree in Library and Information Science. Data shows the school gave out 145 master's degrees in Library and Information Science, followed by 122 bachelor's degrees in Elementary Education and Teaching and 90 master's degrees in Physical Education Teaching and Coaching.
The university enrolled 5,887 students for 2016-17, including 3,702 in undergraduate programs and 2,185 in graduate programs.
