University of Massachusetts Amherst issued the following announcement on May 24.

Thomas P. Moliterno, vice dean and Earl W. Stafford Professor in Entrepreneurial Studies at the Isenberg School of Management, has been named to a one-year term as interim dean by Provost John McCarthy. Moliterno will assume leadership of the school after the current dean, Mark A. Fuller, begins his new role as vice chancellor for development and alumni relations on July 1.

“I consulted with the Isenberg personnel committee and department chairs, and Tom was recommended enthusiastically for interim dean,” said McCarthy. McCarthy said a search for a permanent dean would be launched shortly, assisted by the search firm Isaacson Miller.

In his current positions, Moliterno provides leadership for a wide range of the Isenberg School’s internal and external activities. His internal administrative responsibilities include a range of school-level administrative oversight, including the Berthiaume Center for Entrepreneurship, and construction of the Isenberg Business Innovation Hub, a 70,000-square-foot addition to the school’s buildings, due to be completed later this year. Currently in his fourth year in the dean’s office, Moliterno previously chaired the MBA core faculty.

Moliterno has taught at the undergraduate, MBA and doctoral levels. As the Earl W. Stafford Professor, he is currently extending the school’s programming around social entrepreneurship. Moliterno’s research is in the area of strategic management and organizational theory, and focuses on human capital and organizational decision-making. He joined the Isenberg School of Management in fall 2011, and was formerly on the faculty at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. He earned his Ph.D. at the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine, and his MBA in public and non-profit management from Boston University.
