Tuition and fees rose 16.6 percent for 2017-18 at Inter American University of Puerto Rico-Metro, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.
Puerto Rico students paid $8,517 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $1,215 more than the $7,302 charged for 2016-17.
Data shows 87 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 581 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3.02 million and 61 students took out student loans totaling more than $217,527.
Including all undergraduates, 5,195 students used grants or scholarships totaling $32.66 million. Another 2,239 took out $11.71 million in federal student loans.
