Cost of college went up for all students at Inter American University of Puerto Rico-Guayama

Tuition and fees rose 1.7 percent for 2017-18 at Inter American University of Puerto Rico-Guayama, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Puerto Rico students paid $5,860 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $96 more than the $5,764 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 97 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 249 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.36 million and 56 students took out student loans totaling more than $137,075.

Including all undergraduates, 1,809 students used grants or scholarships totaling $11.67 million. Another 847 took out $3.24 million in federal student loans.
