Cost of college went up for all students at Georgetown University

Tuition and fees rose 3.5 percent for 2017-18 at Georgetown University, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

District of Columbia students paid $52,300 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $1,753 more than the $50,547 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 53 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 663 students received grants or scholarships totaling $26.75 million and 427 students took out student loans totaling more than $2.78 million.

Including all undergraduates, 3,077 students used grants or scholarships totaling $112 million. Another 2,033 took out $10.2 million in federal student loans.
