Cost of college went up for resident students at San Juan Bautista School of Medicine

In-state tuition and fees rose 0.1 percent for 2017-18 at San Juan Bautista School of Medicine, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Puerto Rico residents paid $9,172 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $6 more than the $9,166 charged for 2016-17.

Non-resident students would have paid 63.8 percent more than residents this year, or $15,022. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 0 percent from $15,016 in 2016-17.

100 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Puerto Rico residents.

Data shows 88 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 7 students received grants or scholarships totaling $34,400 and 4 students took out student loans totaling more than $10,900.

Including all undergraduates, 34 students used grants or scholarships totaling $104,863. Another 19 took out $89,600 in federal student loans.
