Cost of college went up for all students at Southwestern Christian University

Tuition and fees rose 6.1 percent for 2017-18 at Southwestern Christian University, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Oklahoma students paid $13,880 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $800 more than the $13,080 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 93 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 107 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.06 million and 82 students took out student loans totaling more than $532,684.

Including all undergraduates, 704 students used grants or scholarships totaling $5.42 million. Another 647 took out $3.13 million in federal student loans.
