Cost of college went up for all students at Inter American University of Puerto Rico-Fajardo

Tuition and fees rose 15.6 percent for 2017-18 at Inter American University of Puerto Rico-Fajardo, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Puerto Rico students paid $5,898 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $796 more than the $5,102 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 98 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 453 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.36 million.

Including all undergraduates, 1,922 students used grants or scholarships totaling $9.96 million. Another 234 took out $786,698 in federal student loans.
