Cost of college went up for all students at Inter American University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon

Tuition and fees rose 16.1 percent for 2017-18 at Inter American University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Puerto Rico students paid $5,898 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $816 more than the $5,082 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 94 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 892 students received grants or scholarships totaling $4.57 million and 20 students took out student loans totaling more than $61,405.

Including all undergraduates, 4,013 students used grants or scholarships totaling $22.4 million. Another 891 took out $3.57 million in federal student loans.
