Cost of college went up for all students at Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez

Tuition and fees rose 2.3 percent for 2017-18 at Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Puerto Rico students paid $5,268 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $120 more than the $5,148 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 98 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 198 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.06 million and 65 students took out student loans totaling more than $211,841.

Including all undergraduates, 1,233 students used grants or scholarships totaling $6.31 million. Another 693 took out $3.39 million in federal student loans.
