Air Force Institute of Technology issued the following announcement on July 19.

Innovation is the bastion of national defense. Secretary of the Air Force Heather Wilson outlined the Air Force’s five priorities during a talk at the Air Force Association's Air and Space Conference in September 2017, stressing the need to harness the power of innovators and entrepreneurs within the Air Force.

“Innovation is the hallmark of the United States Air Force,” said Wilson. “From time to time it is important to refresh our science and technology strategy, to step back from the programs and problems of today and project 10 or 20 years into the future.”

A new course is coming to AFIT in October that will address a variety of strategic topics related to innovation. Students will learn the qualitative and quantitative aspects of innovation, develop skills in building innovation requirements and infrastructure to sustain innovation, as well as discuss acquisition reform for innovation. Taught by Dr. Adedeji Badiru, Dean, Graduate School of Engineering and Management, instruction will incorporate case studies and several external guest speakers with expert knowledge in fostering innovation within the Department of Defense.

The course will be offered from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. to accommodate working professionals. For more information, contact the Graduate School’s admissions office at A3PS@afit.edu
