86 percent of applicants to Western State Colorado University were admitted for fall 2017

At Western State Colorado University, 90 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 57 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Gunnison enrolled 2,814 students in fall 2017, including 2,431 in undergraduate and 383 in graduate programs, data shows. 5.9 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

72 percent of undergraduates are residents of Colorado, and 28 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (70 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (12 percent).

The school admitted 86 percent of the 1,954 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 27 percent enrolled.
