12 percent of applicants to United States Air Force Academy were admitted for fall 2017

At United States Air Force Academy, 99 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 74 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in USAF Academy enrolled 4,276 students in fall 2017, all in undergraduate programs, data shows. No undergraduates were transferred from another college or university.

7 percent of undergraduates are residents of Colorado, and 90 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (63 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (11 percent).

The school admitted 12 percent of the 10,202 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 97 percent enrolled.
