67 percent of applicants to Wayne State University were admitted for fall 2017

At Wayne State University, 78 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 56 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Detroit enrolled 27,064 students in fall 2017, including 17,297 in undergraduate and 9,767 in graduate programs, data shows. 11 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

96 percent of undergraduates are residents of Michigan, and 2 percent are residents of other states. 2 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (59 percent) and Black or African American (17 percent).

The school admitted 67 percent of the 15,331 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 26 percent enrolled.
