84 percent of applicants to Oakland University were admitted for fall 2017

At Oakland University, 83 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 56 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Rochester Hills enrolled 19,333 students in fall 2017, including 15,901 in undergraduate and 3,432 in graduate programs, data shows. 9.5 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

97 percent of undergraduates are residents of Michigan, and 2 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (75 percent) and Black or African American (7 percent).

The school admitted 84 percent of the 10,296 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 28 percent enrolled.
