74 percent of applicants to University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez were admitted for fall 2017

At University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, 94 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 54 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Mayaguez enrolled 13,481 students in fall 2017, including 12,486 in undergraduate and 995 in graduate programs, data shows. 2.3 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

98 percent of undergraduates are residents of Puerto Rico.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Hispanic or Latino (94 percent).

The school admitted 74 percent of the 3,564 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 87 percent enrolled.
