92 percent of applicants to University of Alabama at Birmingham were admitted for fall 2017

At University of Alabama at Birmingham, 77 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 59 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Birmingham enrolled 20,902 students in fall 2017, including 13,134 in undergraduate and 7,768 in graduate programs, data shows. 11.8 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

85 percent of undergraduates are residents of Alabama, and 13 percent are residents of other states. 2 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (57 percent) and Black or African American (26 percent).

The school admitted 92 percent of the 7,555 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 33 percent enrolled.
