54 percent of applicants to Jacksonville State University were admitted for fall 2017

At Jacksonville State University, 84 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 57 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Jacksonville enrolled 8,567 students in fall 2017, including 7,491 in undergraduate and 1,076 in graduate programs, data shows. 9.1 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

79 percent of undergraduates are residents of Alabama, and 21 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (72 percent) and Black or African American (18 percent).

The school admitted 54 percent of the 6,005 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 35 percent enrolled.
