82 percent of applicants to University of South Alabama were admitted for fall 2017

At University of South Alabama, 84 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 57 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Mobile enrolled 15,569 students in fall 2017, including 10,988 in undergraduate and 4,581 in graduate programs, data shows. 7.1 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

73 percent of undergraduates are residents of Alabama, and 18 percent are residents of other states. 9 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (59 percent) and Black or African American (22 percent).

The school admitted 82 percent of the 5,898 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 39 percent enrolled.
