28 percent of applicants to University of West Alabama were admitted for fall 2017

At University of West Alabama, 85 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 55 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Livingston enrolled 4,646 students in fall 2017, including 2,111 in undergraduate and 2,535 in graduate programs, data shows. 12.8 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

92 percent of undergraduates are residents of Alabama, and 7 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Black or African American (44 percent) and white (42 percent).

The school admitted 28 percent of the 7,388 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 22 percent enrolled.
