89 percent of applicants to Fort Hays State University were admitted for fall 2017

At Fort Hays State University, 69 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 60 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Hays enrolled 15,100 students in fall 2017, including 12,494 in undergraduate and 2,606 in graduate programs, data shows. 18.7 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

78 percent of undergraduates are residents of Kansas, and 21 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (55 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (8 percent).

The school admitted 89 percent of the 2,294 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 51 percent enrolled.
