16 percent of applicants to Rice University were admitted for fall 2017

At Rice University, 100 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 53 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Houston enrolled 7,022 students in fall 2017, including 4,001 in undergraduate and 3,021 in graduate programs, data shows. 0.7 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

43 percent of undergraduates are residents of Texas, and 45 percent are residents of other states. 13 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (34 percent) and Asian (26 percent).

The school admitted 16 percent of the 18,063 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 37 percent enrolled.
