48 percent of applicants to University of Connecticut were admitted for fall 2017

At University of Connecticut, 97 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 50 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Storrs enrolled 27,578 students in fall 2017, including 19,241 in undergraduate and 8,337 in graduate programs, data shows. 4.5 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

66 percent of undergraduates are residents of Connecticut, and 26 percent are residents of other states. 8 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (58 percent) and Asian (11 percent).

The school admitted 48 percent of the 34,198 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 23 percent enrolled.
