90 percent of applicants to Alabama A & M University were admitted for fall 2017

At Alabama A & M University, 92 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 58 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Normal enrolled 6,001 students in fall 2017, including 5,038 in undergraduate and 963 in graduate programs, data shows. 3.1 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

61 percent of undergraduates are residents of Alabama, and 38 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Black or African American (90 percent) and white (3 percent).

The school admitted 90 percent of the 8,610 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 17 percent enrolled.
