53 percent of applicants to The University of Alabama were admitted for fall 2017

At The University of Alabama, 93 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 56 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Tuscaloosa enrolled 38,563 students in fall 2017, including 33,305 in undergraduate and 5,258 in graduate programs, data shows. 4.6 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

32 percent of undergraduates are residents of Alabama, and 67 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (78 percent) and Black or African American (10 percent).

The school admitted 53 percent of the 38,129 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 36 percent enrolled.
