40 percent of applicants to University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras were admitted for fall 2017

At University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras, 93 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 62 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in San Juan enrolled 15,098 students in fall 2017, including 11,981 in undergraduate and 3,117 in graduate programs, data shows. 2.6 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

90 percent of undergraduates are residents of Puerto Rico.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Hispanic or Latino (85 percent) and Black or African American (2 percent).

The school admitted 40 percent of the 6,046 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 88 percent enrolled.
