41 percent of applicants to George Washington University were admitted for fall 2017

At George Washington University, 89 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 60 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Washington enrolled 27,973 students in fall 2017, including 11,999 in undergraduate and 15,974 in graduate programs, data shows. 6.1 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

1 percent of undergraduates are residents of District of Columbia, and 84 percent are residents of other states. 13 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (52 percent) and Asian (10 percent).

The school admitted 41 percent of the 26,987 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 24 percent enrolled.
