37 percent of applicants to Brigham Young University-Hawaii were admitted for fall 2017

At Brigham Young University-Hawaii, 77 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 62 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Laie enrolled 3,143 students in fall 2017, all in undergraduate programs, data shows. 4.9 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

12 percent of undergraduates are residents of Hawaii, and 68 percent are residents of other states. 20 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (33 percent) and Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander (7 percent).

The school admitted 37 percent of the 3,340 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 50 percent enrolled.
