64 percent of applicants to Florida Gulf Coast University were admitted for fall 2017

At Florida Gulf Coast University, 89 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 56 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Fort Myers enrolled 14,965 students in fall 2017, including 13,854 in undergraduate and 1,111 in graduate programs, data shows. 7.4 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

81 percent of undergraduates are residents of Florida, and 16 percent are residents of other states. 3 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (64 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (21 percent).

The school admitted 64 percent of the 13,832 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 30 percent enrolled.
